There will be a Celebration of Life on June 6, 2026 from 11am-4pm at Lapeer Park Shelter in Dearborn, Michigan. Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Please bring and share your favorite Judo stories.
Allen "Judo" Whittaker, affectionately known as Judo, passed away peacefully at his home on May 8, 2026, at the age of 85. A revered figure in Southend, Judo lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication, loyalty, and an infectious sense of humor that endeared him to many.
Born on January 10, 1941, Judo held close the memories of those who preceded him in death: his beloved grandparents, Milka and Mike Radakovich; his brother, Marko; and his niece and nephew, Kevin and Michelle. Though deeply mourned, his legacy lives on through the loving family members who survive him. He is lovingly remembered by his cherished sister, Midge (Thomas) Miller, along with his nephews Michael (Sarah) Miller and Keith Miller. His family circle extends further to his great-niece and great-nephews, Jacob, Ashleigh, and Cameron, all of whom carry forward his spirit and stories.
Judo’s life was richly textured by his keen love for storytelling, a gift he wielded with the power to both amuse and move those around him. His humor could bring tears to one’s eyes, reflecting a depth of character bound by loyalty and unwavering support for both his loved ones and his principles. Always meticulous in appearance, Judo took pride in presenting himself well, a reflection of his respectful and steadfast nature.
Professionally, Judo was a dedicated millwright whose skill and work ethic were widely respected. His aptitude for fixing nearly anything made him a reliable figure in his trade and a go-to resource among family and friends. Outside of work, Judo pursued his passions with vigor. Whether shooting pool, enjoying moments of peace aboard his boat, or working on his treasured 1956 Ford Fairlane, he found joy in activities that revealed his hands-on spirit and zest for life. His commitment to lifting weights demonstrated his determination to maintain his strength, both physical and moral. Equally cherished were the times spent sharing coffee and conversation with his close-knit circle of friends, moments that defined Judo’s warm and engaging presence.
Allen "Judo" Whittaker will long be remembered for his hardworking spirit, captivating storytelling, and the heartfelt connections he fostered. His legacy is deeply woven into the lives of his family and friends who mourn his loss but celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered as a man of integrity, humor, and unwavering love.
