Andrew Donald Vetrone, affectionately known as “Andy” for most of his life, passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on October 23, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andrew was the beloved son of Dominic Salvatore Vetrone and Virginia Dolores (Daraban) Vetrone.
Andrew spent much of his life in Lincoln Park, a community he knew well and loved. As the oldest of five children, he shared a lifelong bond with his family and remained close to those who knew him best. In his later years, he preferred to be called Andrew, a reflection of the quiet independence that characterized him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dominic Vetrone, and his brother, Michael Vetrone.
Andrew is lovingly remembered by his mother, Virginia Vetrone; his siblings, Stephen (Connie) Vetrone, Donald (Madeline) Vetrone, and Christina (Brian) Laveirge; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He also leaves behind special family friend Joanne Fairbanks and his caring neighbors and friends, Mark and Linda Pernak.
Those who knew Andrew will remember his love for the simple pleasures in life. A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game and cheer on his favorite team. He enjoyed watching classic television shows and was happiest when he was out and about in the community he called home. Whether riding his bicycle through town—even during the cold Michigan winters—or spending time around Lincoln Park Plaza, Andrew was a familiar face to many. He enjoyed being among people and found joy in the everyday routines that connected him to his neighbors and friends.
Though he lived a quiet life, Andrew touched many hearts through his friendly presence, determination, and love for his family. He attended church whenever he was able and appreciated the comfort of faith throughout his life.
Visitation will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Lincoln Park, with in-state visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. Andrew will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
As family and friends gather to remember Andrew, they are invited to reflect on the simple kindnesses, familiar routines, and enduring spirit that made him such a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. His presence in the community will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
