Angel Luis "Tito" Melendez, beloved husband, father, grandfather (papa), great grandfather and friend, passed Sunday, November 24, 2024, in his Lincoln Park home.
Born August 2, 1950, in San Juan Puerto Rico, Tito was the son of the late Celestino and Ana Melendez, younger brother to Celestino Melendez Jr. and elder brother to the late David and Irma Melendez.
At age 4, Tito and his family moved to Detroit, Michigan where he spent many years of his life and gained his love for all things Detroit sports, Bob Seger, and Motown music. Tito attended Chadsey High School, where he swam for the varsity team. Soon after, he began his decades of dedication to General Motors where he made lifelong friends while painting Cadillacs on the line.
Tito's self-acclaimed greatest accomplishment, however, was welcoming his children into the world.
On December 26, 1991, Tito married Patricia, which in his words was "the best thing I'd ever done aside from having my children." Like Tito, she shared a love for family and together they would live their life to the fullest with family at the center of it all. They made decades of memories at their Roscommon cabin with their children, grandchildren and friends. They took snowmobile and Goldwing adventures through the UP, joined weekend bowling leagues, and hosted summer pool parties and holiday events at their family home.
Tito is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Patricia, four loving children: Michael (Lisa), Melody (John), David (Colleen), and Charnita (Jasmine), cherished grandchildren Nicole (Anthony), Allysia (Aaron), Jessica (Nicole), Angela (Mohamad), Brittany (Devin), Mia (Spencer), Zachary, Marc, Leah and Delilah, and treasured great grandchildren Erin, Angelina, Ana, Lina, and Rami.
In addition to his parents and siblings mentioned, Tito is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Melendez.
