With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ann Catherine (Yurcak) Lewis on May 13, 2025 at the age of 86. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ann's life was a graceful testament to love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Born in Detroit on November 17, 1938 to Anna and Joseph Yurcak, Ann grew up surrounded by the values of hard work, loyalty, and compassion. The family later moved to Lincoln Park, where she graduated from Lincoln Park High School and laid the foundation for a life rooted in community and service.
Ann is survived by her husband and soulmate, Fred Lewis. Fate introduced her to the love of her life in the most unexpected way—by accompanying her best friend on a date. That evening, she met Fred Lewis, who was there with a friend, and from that chance encounter blossomed a romance that would define both their lives. For 64 years, Ann and Fred shared a love that was deep, abiding, and truly rare. They were inseparable—where you saw one, you saw the other. From daily routines to life's biggest moments, they did everything together, hand in hand. Fred doted on Ann with quiet devotion, always putting her needs before his own, and she, in turn, brought warmth and light to every corner of their life together. Their bond was a quiet force—steadfast, tender, and enduring. They were each other's constant, each other's joy, a living example of a love that only grew stronger with time.
Ann poured her energy and heart into everything she touched. She worked for many years as an Executive Secretary for a chemical corporation, where her meticulous attention to detail and impeccable organization made her indispensable. But even with a full career, Ann was ever-present at home. She prepared meals with care, supported her daughters, Traci (Arthur) Pulte and Lori (Craig) Chapman, in every milestone, and tended to her home with the pride and grace of someone who loved deeply.
A devout Catholic, Ann rarely missed Sunday Mass, and each Tuesday evening, she lit candles, said her Novenas, and lifted her family in prayer. Her faith was not only something she practiced—it was something she lived.
Her role as grandmother was one she embraced with joy and intention. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines, attending celebrations, or simply offering a warm hug and wise counsel, Ann was ever-present for Marc Pulte, Adam Pulte, Emily Walsh (Pulte), Erica Pulte, Mitchell Chapman, and Natalie Chapman. She always wanted them to know how deeply they were loved.
In her later years, even as Parkinson's disease brought challenges, Ann's beautiful smile never faded. She continued to care for others—especially her mother, whose needs she met with compassion until her passing.
Together, Ann and Fred explored the world in retirement, traveling through many states and countries, cherishing quiet moments at their Florida condo and summers at their beloved cottage in Mecosta, Michigan. Every step of the journey, they took hand in hand.
Ann is the dearest sister of Joseph Yurcak and John (the late Geri) Yurcak; sister-in-law of the late Alice (Ben) Nabozny and the late Betty (Sandy Rivers) Lewis; and a loving aunt to many nieces & nephews. She will be dearly missed by her extended family.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park, Michigan, where prayers will be said at noon. Ann will be laid to rest in a private service at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Ann's life and legacy, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation , the Michael J. Fox Foundation , or the Dementia Society of America .
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried so quietly, and the smile that never faded.
