It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Arthur Troy Davis announces his passing on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 72 years.
Beloved husband of Doris Davis. Loving father and "Pops" of Troy Arthur Davis, Jerry (Tiffany) Davis, and Matthew Joseph (Lauren) Davis. Proud grandfather and "Papaw" of William Jack Lezotte, Eva Ann Davis, Jared Alan Davis, Titus Matthew Davis, Ian Edward Davis, and Noel Grace Davis.
On March 16, 1951, Arthur Troy Davis was born to Gerald and Helen Davis in Butte Montana. Years later, in 1974, Troy married the love of his life, Doris. They met through Doris' brother, Jimmy and spent 49 treasured years together. Troy and Doris raised 3 wonderful boys and now have 6 beautiful grandchildren. He was a fierce, devoted family man and defended his family no matter what. When his boys were young, he would take them to the Tigers' games to spend time together and get autographs. As the boys grew, they would want to be dropped off for various activities and Troy would always make them locate a pay phone, so they could call and check in. He wanted to know they were safe. He told them, "You wouldn't leave a suitcase with a million bucks just sitting on the sidewalk, right? Well, you boys are like a million bucks to me, and I want to make sure you are OK. His boys were priceless. Troy loved his children no matter what and was proud of the men they had become. The love Troy had for his family intensified when he became a Papaw. Troy unapologetically adored his grandkids. They were his pride and joy. It was a regular occurrence to see him bouncing a grandchild on his knee, singing songs to them, and driving kids to places such as cheerleading or gymnastics. And he could always be found with a little candy in his pocket to share with those precious little Papaw fans.
Troy enjoyed many things in life. One of his favorite activities was to take "nappos". Every day was a good day to take a nice, little snooze. Troy also enjoyed the water. There was not a pool or body of water that he didn't enjoy taking a dip into. When he was relaxing, he loved watching sports and you could often find him in the downstairs mancave. UFC, football, or baseball were among the sports he watched regularly. He enjoyed watching movies too. Gangster flicks such as Yellowstone and A Bronx Tale were the movies he liked the most. Troy enjoyed listening to music. The Motown classics of The Temptations, Four Tops, and Smokey Robinson could be recalled regularly when the tunes came on.
Troy will be forever missed by his family and friends.
