Bernard Andrew Nabozny

September 19, 1938 — January 18, 2026

Bernard Andrew Nabozny, lovingly known as Ben, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on September 19, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Andrew and Mary Nabozny.

Ben grew up in Detroit near Patton Park, where he built lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community. As a boy, he served as an altar boy at St. Gabriel’s Church and enjoyed participating in sports, a love of activity that stayed with him throughout his life. He attended St. Gabriel’s High School, graduating in 1956, and soon after answered the call to serve others by becoming a firefighter for the City of Dearborn. Ben dedicated his career to public service, earning the respect of his colleagues through his strong work ethic and commitment. He retired at the young age of 50 with a full pension, a testament to his years of devoted service.

In 1958, Ben married the love of his life, Alice Mae (Lewis) Nabozny. Together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage before Alice’s passing in 2010. Ben and Alice raised their four sons primarily in Dearborn, building a home rooted in love, discipline, and hard work. Retirement allowed them to enjoy the life they had worked so hard for—spending summers at their Michigan cottage and winters at their Florida condo, making countless memories along the way.

Ben was a tireless worker, known for always holding multiple jobs to provide well for his family. He was constantly on the go and never one to sit still. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, working out at the health club, playing racquetball, playing cards, and sharing a few beers with friends at the local bar. Above all, Ben valued time spent with family and friends.

He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Alice, his parents, and his brother Richard Nabozny.

Ben is survived by his children: Bernard (Bernie) and Jennifer Nabozny, Bruce and Kristin Nabozny, Barry and Valerie Nabozny, and Bryan and Lisa Nabozny; his grandchildren: Barry Junior Nabozny and Lisa Pantalone, Ashley (Nabozny) and Phil Kerby, Jessica (Nabozny) and Jeff Graham, Andrew and Courtney Nabozny, Chelsea Nabozny, Benjamin Nabozny, Cort Nabozny and Katie Harrison, and Devin Nabozny; and his great-grandchildren: Kase Kiefer, Odin Nabozny, Miles Kerby, Vivienne Nabozny, and Kendall Graham. He is also survived by his brother Edward and sister-in-law Grace Nabozny, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Ben will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and hardworking provider whose life was defined by service, dedication, and an unrelenting drive to care for those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
