Betty Jean Obregon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on April 18, 1958, to the late Barrett Gray and Barbara (Weathers) Gray, Betty entered the world as a twin, unfortunately losing her sibling shortly after birth.
A cherished sister, Betty leaves behind Earl (Val) Gray, Linda (Roger) Evans, Dave Gray, and Ann (John) Abbott. Her bond with her siblings was profound, especially the countless hours she spent on the phone with her sister Linda, sharing stories and laughter late into the night.
Betty was the beloved spouse of Ralph Obregon, with whom she just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on December 16th. Together, they lived a life of devotion and happiness, truly the best of friends. Their adventures took them on long trips around coastal Michigan, reveling in the beauty and joy the state has to offer.
As a mother, Betty was deeply loving and devoted. She cherished her children Jenny (Phil) Wirtz, Melissa (Jimmy) Obregon, Maria (Daniel) Barber, and Cathy (Daniel) Burbank. Her pride extended to her grandchildren: David Obregon, Ashley Obregon, Halley Skiles, Hanna Skiles, Julian Saucedo IV, the late Jesse Saucedo, Gordon Hamel IV, Athena Barber, and Dominic Burbank, as well as her great-grandchild, Maple Obregon. Known affectionately as "Granny," she doted on her grandchildren, showering them with love and affection.
Betty had a zest for life and a wide array of interests. She loved Bingo, trips to the casino, and shopping on QVC, always on the lookout for a great deal. Her passion for collecting cups and coffee mugs filled countless cabinets and shelves around the house. Betty also enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, including Law & Order, Miami Vice, All My Children, Sanford & Son, and Little House on the Prairie.
Betty's exuberance for life, her unwavering love for her family, and her myriad interests made her a remarkable person. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
