Bryan Clinton Avis, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan.
Bryan was born on May 5, 1937, in Logan, West Virginia, the beloved son of Beatrice Avis and Lovell Avis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Bruce Avis, Naman Avis, and Raymond Avis; and his stepson, Ryan Keith Stowers.
A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Bryan found his greatest joy in his family. His home was a place of love, warmth, and quiet strength. A man of few words, Bryan kept his memories close and expressed his care through steadfast presence and unwavering devotion.
Bryan was a dedicated member of UAW-AFL-CIO-CLC, working with McLouth Steel in Trenton and J+L Industries in Detroit. He was respected for his work ethic and the integrity with which he lived his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Messer) Avis; his children Kim (Nick) Finazzo, Tammy Veneziale, Ken (Hazel) Avis, Sherry (Bill) Avis, Jeff (Lisa) Avis, Kelley (Lorne) Arevalo, and Mitzi (Dave) Wolfe. Bryan was a proud grandfather to Chris Stowers, whom he held as a best friend and hero; Madison Harris, Gloria Veneziale, Bernadette (Brandon) Veneziale, Hannah Veneziale, England (Drew) Avis and Liliana Avis-Lopez who held a special place in his heart, Dominic (Beth) Arevalo, Derek (Carlee) Arevalo, Destiny (Tom) Arevalo, Doree Arevalo, Savannah (Max) Avis, and Kaylee Wolfe. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance during visitation on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park, Michigan, with a funeral service at 6:00 PM led by his pastor, Dr. Russell Bone.
Bryan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his quiet wisdom, steadfast love, and the strong family legacy he leaves behind.
