Charles Edward Grigg

February 25, 1961 — April 13, 2025

Charles Edward Grigg, age 64, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025. Born on February 25,1961, to Charles Emil Grigg and Judith Laurine (Briskey) Grigg, Chuck grew up in Westland, Michigan, a graduate of John Glenn High School Class of 1979. He spent his youth playing hockey and baseball, developing a lifelong love of sports and teamwork. His playful nature carried into adulthood, where he became known as the life of the party — quick with a joke, and always ready with a story.

Becoming a father to his daughter Jessica was one of the proudest moments of his life, and he beamed with pride when Jessica graduated from college. He loved visiting her in Arizona, and he especially treasured the helicopter ride they went on together.

Family meant everything to Chuck. He was a beloved brother to Joni (Keith) Fielder, Carol Jarema, Eugene (Belinda) Kahoohanohano, Nani (Arnold) Hunter, and Steve Grigg. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and held a special place in his heart for each of them. His many cousins and aunts and uncles also held an important place in his life, and together they shared a lifetime of stories, laughter, and love.

Chuck had an incredible sense of humor and a great personality. Whether gathering around the table playing cards, watching the Detroit Lions or Tigers, or sitting by a backyard fire, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He loved a good debate about politics or current events and could talk for hours with genuine curiosity and passion. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life — listening to music, telling stories, and sharing time with family.

An animal lover at heart, Chuck had a special bond with his dogs. Over the years he helped to raise Fred, Greta, and Pokey, and was especially devoted to his current companion, Mylie. He had a natural talent for training dogs, and his gentle approach and patience spoke volumes about his character.

Chuck also had a fascination with space exploration. During his time living in Florida, he tried many times to witness a rocket launch in person and never quite succeeded. His curiosity about the world and what lay beyond it was boundless.

He was also deeply generous, always willing to lend a hand or give a kind word. He gave, not out of obligation, but from the deep love he carried for the people in his life. His generosity, warmth, humor, and fierce love for his family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Chuck found peace and happiness in the Keweenaw Peninsula, where he loved to visit and soak in the natural beauty, often sitting quietly by a fire, enjoying the calm, the stars above, and the presence of those he loved.

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Jason.
