Clayton E. Ball, born on October 20, 1962, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Newport, Michigan, surrounded by the warmth and love of family and friends. His departure marks the end of a life beautifully lived and profoundly cherished by those who knew him.
Clayton was a hardworking truck driver whose dedication and commitment defined much of his life’s journey. Beyond his work, he found great joy in the simple pleasures: fishing quietly by the water’s edge, wandering through lively fairs, savoring good food, and immersing himself in the magic of concerts. His love for music was deeply etched in his soul, with the band Rush holding a special place in his heart. Clayton's spirit was also ever loyal to the Detroit sports teams, passionately cheering them on and sharing that enthusiasm generously with all around him.
Known for a personality that was quiet and meek yet deeply unique, Clayton was a man of gentle strength and endless generosity. He was patient and kindhearted, always ready with a smile to lift someone’s day. His greatest joy came from his family—he was immensely proud of his three daughters, Emily (Jeremy) Soleau, Melissa (Scott) Fogh, and Cynthia Madrid, each of whom carried forward his legacy of love and warmth. His affection extended lovingly to his sisters, Becky Daily and Heather Ball, his nephew Josh (Maria) Ball, his eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his life partner Donna all of whom knew Clayton as a deeply caring and generous presence in their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Geraldine Ball, and also remembered alongside the memory of the love of his life, Cynthia Johnson.
Clayton’s kindness had a special shine when it came to the little ones to whom he was endlessly generous. He had a rare gift for making everyone he encountered feel special, treasured, and deeply loved, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes and his presence brought comfort and joy.
Clayton E. Ball’s legacy is one of enduring love, quiet strength, and joyful generosity. He touched the lives of many with his unique personality and gentle spirit, and he leaves behind a family and circle of friends who treasure every memory of his loving presence. His spirit will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and happiness to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life for Clayton is being held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Wolverine Park in Dundee from 1:30-3:30pm.
