Darcel Diane Atwell

February 12, 1952 — August 22, 2025

Harrison

Darcel D. Atwell, a beacon of gentle love and remarkable handiness, passed away on August 22, 2025, at the age of 73, in the comfort of her home in Harrison, MI with her son David at her side. Born on February 12, 1952, in Bay City, MI, Darcel's life was a testament to her strength and compassion.

Darcel's nurturing spirit was evident throughout her career as a dedicated registered nurse at Garden City Hospital and U of M Hospital.

Family was the heart of Darcel's world. She is survived by her loving son, David Atwell, and was predeceased by her son, James Atwell. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Madelaine, Sianna, and Caleb Atwell, and her great-grandchildren, James and Jude Atwell. Darcel was a source of boundless love and support for her former daughters-in-law, Kristen Orme and Gabrielle Harp. Her husband, Jim Atwell, and her granddaughter Sicora Atwell, preceded her in death and their memories remained a treasured part of her life.

Darcel was the beloved sister to Toni (Mike), Bill (Linda), and Renee, and she held dear the memories of her late siblings, Rory and Michelle. Her family will remember her as the matriarch who could always be counted on for a warm embrace, a listening ear, and a helping hand.

An incredibly talented individual, Darcel had a passion for sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful garments and keepsakes for her family. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in constantly remodeling her home, a testament to her ability to build and create with ease. The clothes she made for her grandchildren were not just articles of clothing but symbols of her love and care.

Those who knew Darcel will remember her as the epitome of a gentle and loving soul. Her ability to fix and build anything in her house was matched only by her capacity to mend hearts and lift spirits. She was a woman of many talents, but it was her kindness and warmth that truly defined her.

As we bid farewell to Darcel D. Atwell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind. Her gentle spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
