David Richard Belisle

Jul 5, 1991 — Aug 4, 2026

Wyandotte, MI

With profound sorrow, the family announces the unexpected passing of David Richard Belisle, who lost his life in a tragic kayaking accident on August 4, 2026 at the age of 35. Though his time on earth was far too short, the love, laughter, and kindness he shared with those around him will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on July 5, 1991, David was the beloved son of David Ray Belisle and Kimberly Lynn McGhee. As the oldest of three children, he naturally embraced the role of big brother, sharing a lifelong bond with his sisters, Tiffany Belisle and Sarah Belisle. Raised in the Downriver community, David graduated from Southgate Anderson High School with the Class of 2010, where he built many lasting friendships and memories.

David found the love of his life, Katlyn (Barton) Belisle, through what seemed like fate. They were introduced through mutual friends and his sister, Sarah. He and Katlyn continued to cross paths until their relationship blossomed into a beautiful love story. They were married on March 31, 2023, and together built a life centered on love, laughter, and family.

His greatest pride and joy were his two beloved sons, Gunnar and Gannon. Being their father was a role David treasured most. Whether he was playing, teaching, laughing, or simply spending time with them, his boys were the center of his world. The memories they shared together will forever remain a cherished gift.

Professionally, David worked as a Noise, Vibration, and Harshness Specialist for TÜV SÜD America Incorporated. He genuinely loved his career in the automotive industry and took great pride in his work to ensure the cars we drive maintained high safety standards. Just as importantly, he valued the comradery he formed with his coworkers, who became an extension of his circle through his time there.

Outside of work, David embraced life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending peaceful days fishing, shooting hoops on the basketball court, collecting baseball cards, and creating memories with those he loved most. Whether gathered around family, enjoying time with friends, or sharing stories and laughter, David had a way of making every moment special.

David will be remembered as someone who could make anyone laugh, no matter the situation. His calm demeanor, caring heart, and outgoing personality made people feel instantly comfortable in his presence. He was compassionate, loving, and always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. His genuine kindness and easy smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, David leaves behind his wife; his cherished sons; his sisters; his mamaw, Brenda McGhee; his parents-in-law, David and Nicole Barton; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, coworkers, and countless dear friends. He was preceded in death by his papaw, Richard McGhee.

David's sudden passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him. While hearts are broken by this unimaginable loss, they find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, laughter, compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family will endure for generations to come. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
