Donald Edward Roberts

Donald Edward Roberts, age 71, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away on May 28, 2026, at Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital.

Born on October 26, 1954, in Trenton, Michigan, Donny was the son of the late Albert Jessie Roberts and Nellie (Owens) Roberts. He grew up with a strong work ethic that carried him throughout his life and career.

Donny spent many years working in the automotive industry as an autobody tradesman. Skilled with his hands and passionate about anything with wheels and an engine, he found great satisfaction in working on cars. Whether restoring, repairing, building model cars, or simply talking about automobiles, Donny's love for cars was a defining part of who he was. His prized 1955 Ford pickup held a special place in his heart and reflected his appreciation for classic craftsmanship.

Outside of work, Donny enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, and spending time cooking. He was especially fond of country music and the music of Neil Young, whose songs often provided the soundtrack to many of his days. Friends and family knew that if Donny wasn't working on a vehicle, he was likely listening to music, strumming a guitar, or planning his next project.

Throughout some of life's most difficult challenges, Donny found comfort and companionship in his beloved rescue dog, Gromit. More than a pet, Gromit was a faithful friend who remained by his side through his cancer treatments and gave him a reason to get up each morning. Their bond was a source of strength and comfort.

Donny was also blessed with the friendship of Tommy Yelley, whose loyalty and kindness never wavered. Tommy faithfully accompanied Donny to chemotherapy appointments and stood beside him through difficult times, demonstrating the true meaning of friendship.

He leaves behind his dear cousins, Justin Bennett and Heather Bennett; sister, Donna Sue; his treasured dog, Gromit; Tommy; and many friends and extended family members who will remember him for his love of cars, music, and the simple pleasures of life.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home. A brief committal service will take place during the final portion of the visitation. Cremation will follow the visitation, and he will be laid to rest with family at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
