Doyle Warren Shepherd

Doyle Warren Shepherd, age 76, of Wyandotte and Lincoln Park, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026.

Born November 10, 1949, Doyle was the son of the late Donald Floyd Shepherd and Joyce June Vermillion.

Doyle proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, completing two tours during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked at Ford’s Wayne Assembly Plant for 38 years before retiring. Never one to sit still for long, Doyle liked to stay busy and later took a part-time job at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

Doyle had a gift for making people smile, often finding a reason to laugh even on the most ordinary days. He valued the friendships he made throughout his life, especially the close bond he shared with his neighbors. They became much more than neighbors—they were like extended family to Doyle, just as he was to them. Their friendship and the time they shared meant a great deal to him.

Doyle’s kindness was never limited to people. He had a special place in his heart for the stray cats in the neighborhood, making sure they always had treats and were cared for. Whether it was a person or an animal in need, Doyle had a way of making room for them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Esmeralda; his two daughters, Sarah (Ryan) Schock and Kimberly; and his granddaughter, Sylvera Schock.

Doyle was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Shepherd Jr., George Curtis, and Emma Locke.

He leaves behind memories filled with laughter, kindness, friendship, and countless small acts of compassion that made the world around him a better place. His life was a reminder that sometimes the greatest legacy is simply being kind—to people, to animals, and to all living things.

Doyle will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed and loved always.

Doyle will be laid to rest with honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
