Eleanor Irene Dillon

Eleanor Irene Dillon, 89, of Lincoln Park, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Beloved mother of Bob Dillon, Denise (Jonah) Dillon-Hyzer, Jeff (Robin) Dillon, and Jack (the late Robin Rose) Dillon Jr. Loving grandmother of Jeffrey, Ashley, Crystal, Madison, and Corey. Proud great-grandmother of Jack, Corbin, Dillon, Chase, and Broddi. Dear Sister-In-Law of Dolores Bender, Shirley Yenkel, Sandy Mauritz, Larry (Denise) Look, and Diane Look. Eleanor is preceded in death by beloved husband Jack G. Dillon Sr. She is also preceded in death by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Eleanor was born on November 20, 1933 to the late Frank and Katherine Bender in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Frank and Katherine had 11 children, in which Eleanor was the youngest. She is preceded in death by her 10 brothers and sisters. Eleanor grew up among the pines of the U.P. on the family's farm. Although farm life was not always easy, she had a wonderful life as a child. She was a self-proclaimed farm girl where her days were filled with milking cows and calling chickens.

Growing up on a farm provided Eleanor with deep roots in her love for animals and gardening. She cared for all animals, but deer were especially her favorite. Gardening was always a considerable part of Eleanor's life. Her green-thumb could make anything grow! Eleanor's stunning rose garden was a sight to be seen. She also grew vegetables and fruit trees, including apples and peaches. Along with growing food, she also enjoyed canning to provide for her family. Supporting her family at home was always a treasured part of Eleanor's life. The roots that Eleanor planted and the lives that she nurtured will be a continued inspiration for the ones she leaves behind.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 1:00 - 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home.

Instate Wednesday March 15, 2023, 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Eleanor will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park.
