EUGENE EDGAR HORVATH, age 88 of Lincoln Park, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Born to Mary and Eugene Horvath on August 16, 1934, in Detroit. Attended Holy Cross Catholic school and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School. Served in the US Michigan National Guard in unit Nike-Ajax for Anti-aircraft Missile sites across Michigan for 6 years followed by a career at Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI.

Married to the love of his life, his "Lady Bird", Jeannette, for nearly 65 years before her passing in 2019.

An active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Delray, MI. A lifetime of service, beginning as an alter server, continuing as a lector and completing his service with involvement in raffles, festivals and weekly newsletters. Keeping close his deep faith and trust in God and his desire to serve.

A member of Monsignor Champion Council of River Rouge. Serving 2 terms as "Grand Knight". Currently a member of the Past Grand Knights and Honorary Lifetime Member.

Passionate about "life", his family, travel, stamp collecting, fishing, food, and infamous beverages of choice.

Survived by his daughters Marie (David) Erickson of Redford, Louise (William) Carr of Livonia, and Patricia (Robert) Durham of Riverview. Five Grandchildren, Nicole (Dominic) Visione, Rachael (Harmon) Hanson, Jessica Durham, Benjamin and Abigail Carr. Two Great-Grandchildren, Theo Hughes (7 years) and Claire Visione (7 months). He was predeceased by one brother Arthur (Carol) Horvath. He is survived by brother, Robert (Sharon) Horvath and sister, Marilyn (Rudy) Piszker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished and longtime friends Joel (Evelyn) Johnson and Arnold Wilson.

Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, Holy Cross Catholic Church, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

A viewing for Eugene will be held at Solosy Funeral Home, 3206 Fort Street, Lincoln Park, MI 48146 on Friday, August 18, 2023  1:00 - 8:00 PM.  Rosary at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church, 8423 South St, Detroit, MI 48209 on Saturday, August 19, 2023 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow for immediate family only at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, 18303 Allen Rd, Brownstown Twp, Michigan.
