It is with profound sadness that the family of Gayle Louise Segedi announce her passing on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the age of 87.
Beloved wife of 71 years to Andrew Segedi. Loving mother of the late Barrett (the late Gail) Segedi, the late Bradly Segedi, Rebecca (John) Bintinger, Kathleen (Robert) Sobocinski. Proud grandmother of Johnny, Jeffrey, and Andrew.
She was the 4 th of five children born to the late Lee and Gladys McDonald of Bentleyville, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her sister Jean M. Alsko of Bentleyville and preceded in death by her siblings Irene, Wayne, and Carole Sue.
Gayle had a passion for life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading a wide variety of literature, but curling up with a good suspense novel or historical book would be her favorite. Having a hobby of reading is probably why she was impeccably talented at playing along with the game Jeopardy! There was rarely a night Gayle missed watching the game show and even kept up with the contestants who played. Gayle was known to have a green thumb and specifically enjoyed gardening flowers. Her rose bushes each summer were a sight to behold. Gorgeous potted flowers regularly adorned the front porch and welcomed all who came to visit. Gayle was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She would faithfully arrive at Rebecca's house each Sunday to watch them play. Family meant everything to Gayle. She was always ready for the next adventure with her daughter Kathy. Throughout her life she demonstrated a profound love for both immediate family members as well as extended family. Her faith was important to her. She had a never-ending commitment to her faith family and served at the First United Methodist Church in Wyandotte for years. Gayle will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Her daughters, Rebecca and Kathy, would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte for their care and compassion during this time.
