Gloria Ann Mills

Gloria Ann Mills, lovingly known for her warm smile and compassionate heart, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on November 16, 1946, in Cheboygan, Michigan, to the late William Edward Spens II and Elenor Daisy (Carney) Spens.

Gloria spent her early years in Cheboygan, later growing up in Southgate, and eventually settling in Romulus, Michigan, where she made her home for many years. Some of her most cherished memories were made during summers spent “up north” with her cousins—times filled with laughter, closeness, and lasting family bonds.

She was the beloved companion of Joe Mills, and a devoted mother to Connie (Michael Sr.) Beach. Gloria was a proud and loving grandmother to Michael Beach Jr. and Marie (La’Vell) Stewart, who brought her immense joy and pride.

Gloria is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

She pursued her education at Detroit Business Institute and went on to dedicate 31 years of faithful service with the Michigan Department of Human Services, where she was known for her commitment and work ethic. Among her personal accomplishments, Gloria took great pride in earning a 100-pound weight-loss award, a testament to her determination and perseverance. She was an active member of TOPS and enjoyed the fellowship of the DHS retirees group.

In her free time, Gloria enjoyed reading outdoors, swimming, spending time with friends, and making trips up north to visit her cousins. She will be remembered for lighting up a room with her smile and laughter, and for her kind, compassionate spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Solosy Funeral Home. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with a memorial service at 6:30 PM, at Solosy Funeral Home.

Gloria’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
