Gwendolyn Sue Ross joined her parents, sisters, late husband and grandson in heaven on March 15, 2025. She's leaving behind her daughter Erica (Bobby) Lafferty and son Austin (Joni) Ross; grandchildren Bobby and Georgiamae Lafferty and AJ and Scarlett Ross as well as her brother Dean Smith.
To know Gwen was to know what it meant to live loud, wild and free. As Shelby from Steel Magnolias says; "I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special". Gwen loved passionately and with her whole heart, but that passion also made her incredibly feisty. She was unafraid to tell anyone what she really thought.
Over the past eight years, she has given her all to be the very best Noni/Gigi that she could be. Her grandbabies were truly her everything. Whether it was picnics in the backyard, playing make believe or singing and dancing in the kitchen, she lived to make them happy. Her loss will be felt by many, but like a good song that surpasses the divide of generations and time, her memory will live on through all of us.
Her visitation will take place at Belleville Lighthouse Church on Thursday, March 20 from 2:00 pm until the service that starts at 5:00 pm.
