It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Irenee (Ray) J. Moise on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the age of 93 years.
Beloved husband of the late Elaine Moise. Loving father of Victor (Delia Martinez) Moise, Rene (Tommi Sue Moul) Moise, Darryl (Jennifer) Moise, Robert Moise, and Eric (Debbie Tucholski) Moise. Caring grandfather of Erica, Ashley, Angelina, Cristian, Justin, Marshall, Karina, Eric, Ryan, and Jerika. Proud great-grandfather of Allessandra, Cristian Jr., Layla, Kai, Amaya, and Gianna.
Ray was born on December 23, 1929 in Limoges, Ontario, Canada to the late Leandre and Regina Moise. He was the seventh of nine children. Ray is survived by his two younger siblings Annette and Regent. He is preceded in death by Georgette, Laurette, Desange, Evette, Urban, and Eudore. A highlight of Ray's childhood was the charming family farm on which his family lived. It was there Ray acquired his love for animals and nature.
Elaine was the love of Ray's life. On June 7, 1956, the two were married and soon began raising a beautiful family together in the Delray neighborhood of Detroit. His love and devotion to Elaine was an inspiration for all to see until her passing in May of 2022. Even at 92 years old, Ray remained Elaine's primary caregiver. Taking her to appointments, keeping house, cooking, and running errands were a regular part of his routine and the legacy of care Ray leaves behind.
Ray was a dedicated, hardworking husband and father who cared for his family. Throughout the years he worked in a variety of jobs. Beginning in the mid 1950's, he worked as a Railroad Conductor for the New York Central Railroad. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police was an honored position he held. Also, Ray worked as an electrician. His three sons served as apprentices to Ray and he was glad to see them carry on in the trade. He worked at Rene's company until he was 85 years old.
Ray lived life to the fullest. He was a master Cribbage player. Up until Ray's passing, he played his favorite card game with his family and still beat them. Detroit sports were regularly played on Ray's television. He always loved to watch the Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions win, but he was still a fan even when they didn't. Above all else, Ray loved his family. When his grandsons joined hockey, Ray was there to support his favorite hockey players. He loved gathering with his family every moment he could, celebrating the good times and supporting them through the hard times. He was a family man his entire life and leaves behind a wonderful legacy through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No man has ever loved more and received more love.
Ray will be immensely missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
