The family of Jeffrey Todd Witek is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 7, 2026 at the age of 64. He was born on July 19, 1961, to the late Joseph Roman Witek and Betty June (Scroggins) Witek. A lifelong Downriver resident, Jeff grew up in Lincoln Park with his parents, later owning homes in Lincoln Park and Southgate, and most recently residing in Woodhaven. His roots ran deep in the community he loved and called home his entire life.
Jeff was a true jack-of-all-trades with a natural gift for fixing, building, and figuring out how things worked. Whether he was working on one of the many homes he helped repair throughout the Downriver area since 2000 or tinkering under the hood of a vehicle, Jeff was happiest with his hands busy and a project in front of him. He was especially known for riding around in his beloved old Falcon—a familiar sight to many who knew him. He also had a fondness for vintage and antique items, appreciating their character and history, and took pride in bringing old things back to life.
Above all, Jeff treasured time spent with his family and close friends. He shared a once-in-a-lifetime bond with his childhood best friend, John Kozmor; the two truly did everything together and were often described as more like brothers than friends. Jeff also held dear his friendship with John’s wife, Marsha Kozmor, as well as his close friends Mark Policelli and Sandi Slagle, with whom he shared many breakfasts and good conversations over the years. These friendships brought him comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging.
Jeff’s greatest joy was his family, especially his daughters. He was a devoted father to Jennifer Robertson and Alyssa Witek, and he maintained a loving relationship with his stepdaughter, Stephanie Earl, remaining close even after divorce. He was a proud grandfather to Madison Miller, who brought light and happiness into his life. Jeff is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Carol Roble and Linda Kahl; his niece and nephew, Lauren Cicotte-Klapp and Chase Roble; and many extended family members and friends who will miss his steady presence, helpful nature, and kind heart.
A lover of beagles and a lifelong fan of Snoopy from the Peanuts comics, Jeff found simple joy in the things that made him smile. His beloved beagle, Sadie Rose, was a constant companion and a reflection of his gentle, loyal spirit.
Jeff will be remembered for his willingness to lend a hand, his ability to fix almost anything, his love of classic cars and antiques, and the quiet pride he took in building and repairing homes throughout the Downriver community. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his girls, the loyalty he showed his friends, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Jeffrey's private cremation was entrusted in the care of Solosy Funeral Home.
