John William Stearns

Age 53. Beloved husband of Victoria Stearns. Loving father of Cyle (Sieglinde) Stearns and Megan (Draven Adams) Stearns. Dearest brother of Teresa (John) Thompson, Evelyn (John) Cutting, Michael (Kelly) Stearns, the late Rebecca "Beth" Stearns, and the late Keith Stearns. Dear brother-in-law of Lesley (Darren Dilworth) Valencia, Chris (Andie) Valencia, Dave (Ruth) Valencia.

John faithfully served for decades in law enforcement. He began as a Deputy in Arizona. Upon moving back to Michigan he worked for a short time at Pinkerton Security before taking a Deputy role with the Wayne County Sheriff. In 2008, John joined the Lincoln Park Police Department as a Patrol Officer. During this time he also was a gun instructor at Schoolcraft College. He was promoted to Detective in Lincoln Park and eventually received a promotion to Sergeant. John also served the Downriver SWAT Team in the role of lead sniper. John loved the work he did serving the community of Lincoln Park.

John played classical guitar and was known to love music of all genres from 80's classic rock to jazz. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time sailing and fishing. He was an avid runner and had participated in many races including the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in years past. John held a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and had a love of learning. He was always looking for the next certification he could earn and the next class he could take. These passions and fun times were shared together with his wife and children. John's family was his true love and he will be missed by them and all who knew him.

Visitation Saturday February 19, 2022 3:00pm until the funeral service at 7:00pm at Resurrection Church 2071 Porter Ave. Lincoln Park, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in John's memory to the Michigan Human Society or the Officer Down Memorial Page .
