John David Strieff, known to all as simply "John", took his final bow on July 23, 2023, and exited stage left after a lifetime performance filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of Mountain Dew. Born on December 28, 1965, in Trenton, MI, he spent his 57 years making a lasting impression on everyone he met, from his beloved family to his coworkers at the steel plant where he worked as a heat treater.

John was a man who had a heart bigger than the Big Gulps he loved to drink. He was a gentle giant, a spirited soul, and a passionate lover of life, dogs, Detroit sports, and pizza - specifically, Hot and Readys. He was always game for a movie night, a round of euchre or a fishing trip, never missing an opportunity to spend time with his loved ones or to cheer on the Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, and U of M football.

John was nothing if not a family man. He married the love of his life, Mari-Lou, and became a stepfather to four children. He didn't just step up to the plate, he hit a grand slam, treating them as if they were his own. His children; Megan, Brianna (Ken), Steven, Matthew, Bryon (Kassy), and Angelica. His grandchildren, Austin, Bryson, Sophia, Courtney, Shane, Kenady, Landon, Aleeya, Brayden, Aubrey, Ryker, and Konnar, were the apples of his eye, though he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Finn.

John was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, or the last slice of his Hot and Ready.

And let's not forget his dogs; Brodey, Falina, Grandpa Sammy, Remi, and Bella. Each one held a special place in his heart, a true testament to his generous nature. They say dogs are man's best friend, and in John's case, this was undoubtedly true.

In the end, John's life was a comedy show that we were all lucky enough to have a ticket for. His spirit, his humor, and his love for life were infectious, and he left this world a brighter place for having been in it. As we remember John, let's raise a Big Gulp in his honor, savor a slice of Hot and Ready, and remember to laugh often, love deeply, and never pass up an opportunity to spend time with those we care about.

John David Strieff, you were a one-of-a-kind act, and the world is a little less bright without your marquee lights. But the show must go on, and we know you're up there somewhere, cracking jokes, sipping on a Mountain Dew, and cheering on your favorite teams. Thanks for the laughs, the love, and the memories. Rest in peace, John, and save us a seat in the front row.

A celebration of Johns life will take place on Saturday, August 5. Contact the family for more detailed information if you'd like to attend.
