Jose Rodriguez III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on May 15, 2024 at the age of 66. Born on December 11, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan to Jose Rodriguez II and Maria Rodriguez, Jose grew up surrounded by love and family.
Jose married the love of his life, Diane Elizabeth Rodriguez (nee. Buchanan), and together they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories. Their union blessed them with two wonderful children, Carlos Jose (Claudia Patricia) Rodriguez and Maria Elizabeth (Jason Scott) Critchfield.
Jose was a dedicated father and grandfather, finding immense happiness in spending time with his grandchildren Zachary, Victoria, and Ivanna. He adored them beyond measure and treasured every moment he spent with them.
Gathering with family and friends was important to Jose. He will be sincerely missed by his siblings Amado Rodriguez, Yolanda (Jose) Maldonado, Maria Rodriguez, and Ramona Rodriguez, aunts Blanca and Rita, as well as a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ray, Margaret, and Irene, as well as his parents.
Throughout his life, Jose was known for his love of playing pool, a passion that brought him much enjoyment and camaraderie with friends and family. He also had a keen interest in learning, often turning to YouTube for instructional videos on construction projects, which he found both fascinating and useful.
Jose was an avid fan of Hallmark movies, particularly the Christmas ones. He could regularly be found flipping over to the Hallmark Channel along with his brother-in-law Jose to watch them. Their shared love for these films showed forth a softer side that served to endear them to their family.
For 30 years, Jose dedicated himself to his work at General Motors, where he worked diligently on the assembly line. His commitment and work ethic were commendable, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Known for his infectious laughter and love of corny Dad jokes, Jose had a knack for bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He cherished moments spent with family, especially his beloved dogs Max and Ruby, whom he adored as if they were his own children.
Jose was a man of style, often seen sporting his signature Stetson hats, which he proudly collected over the years.
Jose leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In honoring Jose's memory, may we all find comfort in the cherished moments shared and the love that will forever live on in our hearts.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 1:00 PM until the Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park.
Instate will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit.
Jose will be laid to rest at Woodmere Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
