Born in San Antonio, Texas on September 15, 1921 to Jose & Francisca Vega. Left to be with the Lord on May 29, 2012.
He was raised as a child in San Antonio, Texas with ten brothers and sisters, three of his brothers and three of his sisters have proceeded before him to be with the Lord.
He is survived by four siblings; Lupe Trevino and Julia Contreas of San Antonio, Texas, Vangie (Don) Flores of Maryland, and Cata Mauro of Clinton, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife Virginia...married for seventy years and three sons; Rudy (Rose) Vega of Taylor, Danny (Minnie) of Detroit, and Henry Vega of Santa Monica, California.
He came to Michigan as a migrant worker in the early forties, stayed and worked for Great Lakes Steel as a Brick Layer, close to retirement, he opened Vega's Bar in Ecorse in 1961, then Casa De Vega in Southwest Detroit and helped his son, Danny open the Blue Diamond Lounge in Detroit.
He was a very social person and loved dealing with people, outside ventures, and doing minor brick repairs brought him much joy and fufillment into his life, having made many friends along his highway of life....truly loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Jose will be on Friday June 1, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the funeral home. Instate 9:30 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Church, (4250 W.Jefferson, Ecorse) followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery
