Joyce Elaine Shuryan passed from this Earth on August 25th, 2024.
Joyce was born on August 10th, 1936 to her parents John and Marie (Gegot) Schmeler. She was predeceased in 2020 by Anthony her beloved husband of 59 years and her only sibling Dolores.
She is survived by her daughter Loretta (Shuryan) Stephens and her son James Shuryan. She is also survived by her grandchild Sophia Stephens as well as her step-grandchildren Dylan Wroblewski and Michael Fiebig.
After graduating from Lincoln Park High School in 1954, Joyce started working in downtown Detroit at the J.L. Hudson Company. Once her children came along, Joyce decided to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She was an amazing cook and a better mother. Joyce expressed love and kindness to everyone she encountered. Some of her favorite hobbies were playing cards, reading, gardening and going to the movies. She also loved to sew.
Her deepest love was for her family and she always set the best example possible for her children. She loved to take drives on the weekend with her family to cider mills, parks, museums etc. Joyce was also very health conscious even though her favorite food was chocolate in any form. She was a devout Catholic whose faith never wavered.
Words cannot express just how kind and caring she was, nor are they enough to express the loss felt by those who loved her. Joyce's memory will live on in all of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband Anthony at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, Michigan.
