Juana Nuño

July 30, 1934 — November 10, 2024

Juana Nuño, born on July 30, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Juan and Carmen Rodriguez, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Nuño, and her son, Francisco Nuño II. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Elena Nuño and Teresa Vega, and her treasured granddaughter, Tatianna Vega, along with Tatianna's fiancé, Brian Boehm Jr. Juana was a devoted sister to her siblings, the late Manual (Maria) Rodriguez, the late Antonio (Cathy) Duenas, Enrrique (Juliett) Duenas, and Mary H. Duenas. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever remember her. She also shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Tiger, affectionately known as "Gata," as well as her "granddogs" Smithers, Oreo, and the late Coco, and her "grandcats" Smokie Bear, Pumpkin, Teeny Tiny, and Gus-Gus.

Juana was known for her grace on the dance floor and was an incredible dancer. Her passion for dance led her to teach her siblings, children, and grandchild, and she even spent time sharing her skills at the Fred Astaire Studio. The Polka was one of her favorites, along with Cumbias and Rancheras, styles that matched her joy and zest for life. Juana was also a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers, always cheering them on with a hot dog and a cold brew by her side, celebrating the game with the same enthusiasm she brought to life.

In addition to dance, Juana was a skilled needle pointer and crocheter. She shared her love of these crafts with her daughters, teaching Teresa the art of needlepoint and Elena the skill of crocheting. Juana also found joy in working through puzzle books, often with Tiger playfully batting at her pen, and her love for reading was boundless. She read everything she could get her hands on, with a speed that amazed family and friends.

Juana's life was filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. Her warmth, talent, and joyful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
