It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Kenneth Joseph Komara, 53, of Allen Park, announce his sudden passing on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Beloved husband and best friend of the late Tressa Komara. Loving son of the late Richard and Nancy Komara. Beloved brother of Pam (Tom) Sheardy, Kim (Joe) Quesnelle, the late Richard Kent Komara, Karen (the late Phil) Mroz, Kathy (Brian) Kanikowski, Kevin Komara, Kirk Komara, and Kirsten (Don) Akers. Dearest nephew of Sue Montambeau, Mike (Judy) Novak, and Julie Nucci. Forever missed by his 11 nieces & nephews and 23 great nieces & nephews. Much loved by his large extended family, including Kathy Hornak, Bob & Connie Hornak, and Laura & Jeff Wilcox.
Kenneth was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the youngest of 9 children. His hometown is where he met the love of his life, Tressa, through mutual friends. Their 35 years together began in 1988 and they were joined in marriage in 2005.
Ken loved to be active and enjoyed many hobbies. Outdoor sports like fishing, boating, and hunting were how he spent much of his free time. He cherished his boat and could often be found out on fresh waters of Lake St. Clair fishing with his brother Kirk or friend John Morey. Before his father passed, fishing was also a treasured time spent with his Dad. Being an ardent outdoor enthusiast is probably why he delighted in the time he and Tressa spent vacationing in Key West, Florida. Ken also loved music, especially classic Rock n' Roll. He was an avid sports fan. Football, baseball, and hockey were among the sports he enjoyed the most. The University of Michigan teams were by far his favorite. Along with many hobbies, he was also a good cook and adored feeding his friends and family. Tressa used to call him the King of Cooking. His love of cooking was deeply influenced by his mom, dad, and grandma. Delicious cabbage rolls and delectable beef brisket were among the many dishes he would make. His fun, practical joking personality will be forever missed.
Ken was also active in his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Anchor Bay Council 5981. He also regularly attended Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church in Detroit. Ken will be missed and fondly remembered by his church family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Capuchin Soup Kitchen or Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church .
