Lazaro Garcia

January 21, 1954 — August 21, 2024

Lincoln Park

Lazaro Garcia, born on January 21, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Ysabel and Anita Garcia, passed away on August 21, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Lazaro was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, a deep love for his family, and an unwavering passion for his Detroit sports' teams.

Lazaro is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Garcia (née Toulouse), with whom he shared over 38 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Lazaro was the proud father of Antonia Garcia and Lea Elizabeth Garcia, who were the light of his life.

Lazaro was the dear son-in-law of the late Elizabeth Toulouse. He was the eldest of his siblings and took great pride in caring for his brothers and sister. Lazaro was a protective and supportive brother to Luis (Brenda) Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Josie (the late Mike) Beaudette, Smiley (the late Dee) Garcia, and Mark (Peggy) Toulouse. Lazaro was the dear uncle to the late Jeremy Beaudette, Christina (George) Neal, Angela (AJ) Linares, Renee (Steve) Stafford, Ashley (Terry) Karsten, and Matthew (Lacy) Toulouse. He is survived by 7 great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and friends. He was a pillar of strength for his family, always stepping up to offer help and guidance, even as they all grew older.

Lazaro's love for animals was evident at home. He often fed the birds, squirrels, and cats in his backyard. Tammy fondly recalls how he would buy peanuts under the guise of enjoying them himself, but they were always intended for his furry and feathered friends. His kindness extended beyond people, and he found joy in caring for all living creatures.

A man of incredible work ethic, Lazaro enjoyed working and took immense pride in being a provider for his family. It was not uncommon for him to spend 12 hours at work, only to come home and continue working on projects around the house. His dedication to his family was matched only by his love for his work, and he was always striving to make life better for those he loved.

He shared a life with Tammy filled with love, laughter, and music. Their bond was strong, and their love only grew over the years.

A true Detroit sports fan, Lazaro's heart belonged to the Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. He was particularly thrilled by the Detroit Lions' success in their most recent season, a joy he shared with his family and friends.

Lazaro also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, where he loved to spend time keeping his yard maintained so the family always had a nice place to enjoy the fresh air, throw a party, have a swim, or just hang out. He found peace in nature, especially during family camping trips up north, which were among his favorite memories.

Music was another of Lazaro's passions, with classic rock being the soundtrack of his life. He could often be found singing along to his favorite songs on the radio, finding comfort and joy in the melodies.

Despite his many responsibilities, Lazaro always made time for the little things that made life better for those around him. Whether it was helping a sibling, caring for his family, or simply playing the lottery with the hope of one day winning big, Lazaro lived a life full of love, care, and hard work.

Lazaro Garcia was a simple man with a heart full of love, who found happiness in the little things and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they shared with him.
