It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Loretta Veronica DeSance on October 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Loretta was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by love, devotion, and generosity of spirit.
Born in Pennsylvania to Ernest and Josephine Leskovitz, Loretta grew up surrounded by her siblings, learning the value of hard work and family early in life as she watched her father work as a tailor. She carried that work ethic into her own career, beginning at Chathams and later retiring from Kroger after years of dedicated service.
Loretta was introduced to the love of her life, the late Eugene, by her brother Angelo. Together, they raised their daughter Christine and showed their family what true love looked like. She was known throughout her life for her selflessness, her care for others, and the deep joy she found in being a grandmother.
She was the proud mother of Christine. She was blessed with three grandchildren—John, Brittany, was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Patrice, and she lovingly considered Michelle a granddaughter as well. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Kayla (Bobby), Johnny, Veronica, Alexis, Justin, Nicolas, and Giavanna, and her great-great-grandchildren: Cameron, Analise, Ryder, Tanner, and Andres Jr.
She is survived by her siblings Elaine and Angelo (Maria) and was preceded in death by her siblings Joan (Jim), David (Millie), and Nicolas. Loretta's life was also enriched by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved pets Bella and Rocky, who brought her much joy.
Loretta will be fondly remembered for her loving, caring, and giving nature. She was beautiful inside and out and was especially known for her amazing cooking. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling, casino trips, and spending time at the lake with her friends. But above all, she found joy in being with her family—never missing a holiday, always hosting gatherings, and teaching her loved ones the importance of tradition.
Her family recalls her as someone who always dressed to impress, never missed a function, and filled every celebration with warmth. She taught her family the meaning of true love, not just through words but by the love she lived out daily.
Family and friends will be received for visitation on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Evangelist Baptist Church, 3550 Oakwood, Melvindale. Cremation will follow, and Loretta will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
Loretta leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished traditions that will continue to guide her family through all of life's seasons.
