Lorraine Phyllis (Bergiel) Pulaski, known by here family as "Mam", passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on December 10, 1927, in Pennsylvania to the late Martin Bergiel Sr. and Teophilia (Czeponis) Bergiel, Lorraine was the loving older sister of the late Martin Bergiel Jr. She shared a profound bond with her brother, fiercely protective and cherishing the childhood memories they built together. As a child, she was never afraid to get her hands dirty and pitch in wherever she was needed.
Lorraine met the love of her life, James E. Pulaski Sr., in Pennsylvania. Together, they embarked on a journey that led them to Michigan, where they built a life and raised a family. Their partnership was one of unwavering support and teamwork, both in their personal lives and in the countless home projects they tackled side by side.
She was the devoted mother of four energetic boys: James "Jim" (Sandra) Pulaski Jr., William Pulaski, the late Lawrence Pulaski, and the late Jerome (Mary) Pulaski. Lorraine took great pride in being a homemaker, dedicating herself to the happiness and well-being of her family. She always kept up with her boys, whether through play or discipline, ensuring they grew up with love, guidance, and strong values. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her children, touching the lives of her grandchildren: Stephanie (Ryan) Sekula, Kristy Pulaski, Courtney (Matt) Pulaski, and Kelly. Her love continued to bless the next generation, as she cherished her great-grandchildren: Shyanne, Jemery, Dalila, Alina, Owen, Gaige, Sadie, Lillianna, and Brian.
Lorraine was known for her warm and generous heart. She never met a stranger, and those who crossed her path were instantly drawn to her kindness and sincerity. She had a deep faith that carried her through life's joys and challenges, and she truly cared about the well-being of others.
A hardworking and industrious woman, Lorraine was always busy with a project. Whether working alongside her husband in the garage, handling tools with skill, or making improvements to their Lincoln Park home, she poured love and dedication into everything she did. Her house was a reflection of her meticulous care, always kept in immaculate condition.
Cooking and baking were among Lorraine's many talents, and her family delighted in her homemade meals. She was especially known for her bread and savory pork chops, and perfectly crafted mini meatloaves. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where she filled her home with comforting aromas.
An avid reader, Lorraine possessed an impressive collection of books and was always engrossed in a new novel. She especially loved mysteries and passed down her passion for reading to her son, Jim. The two would often exchange books and discuss their latest literary adventures.
Lorraine also had a special fondness for elephants, and her home was adorned with various elephant-themed treasures, each a testament to her love for these majestic creatures.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family finds comfort in the many cherished memories she leaves behind, knowing that her love and wisdom will continue to guide them.
