Luann Polik

March 16, 1953 — August 26, 2025

With deep love and cherished memories, the family of LuAnn Polik announces her passing on August 26, 2025, at the age of 72.

Born on March 16, 1953, LuAnn was the beloved daughter of Steve Frank Balowski and Lucille Minnie (Opificius) Balowski. She grew up surrounded by a warm and loving family, enjoying a happy childhood filled with laughter, play, and time on the family farm. She often recalled how her sister Joanne carried her home from the hospital, lovingly saying that Joanne had "picked her out." She also fondly remembered playing in the mud as a child—one of many glimpses into her adventurous and spirited personality.

On September 10, 1975, LuAnn married the love of her life, Louis Polik, after meeting at the Clock Restaurant. Their very first date to Virginia Beach set the tone for a lifetime of joy and devotion. Louis was not only an amazing husband, but also her steadfast companion through every season of life. Together, they raised a loving family and shared nearly 50 years of marriage. The love and marriage together were treasured for a lifetime. After his passing in 1994, LuAnn held him in her heart along with all the special memories they shared.

LuAnn is the proud mother of Veronica (Jeff Johnson) and stepmother to Cheryl (Polik) Fogg. She was also a cherished sister to Joanne Prosser, and was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Gloria Jean.

Her role as grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She leaves behind three treasured grandchildren: Shanna (Pat), Sarah (Kurt), and Jennifer (Bob). She was also blessed with a large and lively group of great-grandchildren: Tyler, Noah, Olivia, Christian, Evan, Liam, Mary, and Harley "Boogie Butt."

LuAnn is also survived by her nieces and nephews—Fred, Steve (DJ), and Marlena (Geno)—and her great-nephew, Devyn. She was deeply connected to her family and extended relatives, cherishing every gathering and holiday together.

A woman of remarkable strength and compassion, LuAnn was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Even into recent years, she amazed everyone with her determination—once helping to carry a refrigerator. She had a gift for cooking, though she would laughingly admit she disliked baking, yet did it anyway because her daughter loved it. Family gatherings, especially holidays, were always filled with warmth and informality under her care, where laughter, love, and shared memories flourished.

LuAnn adored animals, often surrounding herself with pets throughout her life. She was known for her giving nature, her courage, and her unwavering devotion to her loved ones. For her, family was everything.

She will be remembered as one of the strongest, kindest, and most generous souls anyone could meet—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Private cremation services have taken place in the care of Solosy Funeral Home.
