Lucille Minnie Balowski

Lucille Minnie Balowski, age 97, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024. She was born on September 27, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Fredrick and Grace Opificius.

Lucille grew up on a quaint farm in Romulus, Michigan with her 3 siblings. She was preceded in death by her siblings Fred B. Opificius Jr., Alma Childers, and Lillian Howard. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve F. Balowski, and her daughter, Gloria Jean Balowski.

Lucille is survived by her daughters Joanne Prosser and LuAnn (the late Louis Sr.) Polik. She was a proud grandmother to Brigadere General Fred Hockett, Steve E. (Dawn "D.J.") Hockett, Marlena (Oscar "Geno") Jones, and Veronica (Jeff) Johnson. Lucille delighted in her two great-grandchildren, Devyn M. Jones and Harley. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

Lucille found joy in the significant moments of her life, particularly the births of her children and grandchildren. She dedicated many years of hard work as a custodian at the local school, where she found fulfillment in ensuring a clean and safe environment for the students.

Described as loving and devoted, Lucille always took care of her family with unwavering dedication. She was known for her stubbornness and determination, traits that served her well throughout her life.

In her leisure time, Lucille enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including the occasional Bud Light. Her warm presence and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and joy to those who loved her.

At Lucille's request, a private cremation will be held in care of Solosy Funeral Home.
