Margaret Kocsisko, a lifelong Detroiter whose quiet strength and gentle spirit touched generations of her family, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the remarkable age of 98. She was born on November 27, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to Stephen Lehoczky and Anna Szabo.

Margaret grew up in Detroit’s Delray neighborhood, where her parents owned a beloved local pastry shop. She often fondly recalled walking home from school straight to the shop, a place filled with warmth, hard work, and the comforting aroma of freshly baked goods. Those early experiences helped shape the values she carried throughout her life—devotion to family, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for simple joys.

A proud graduate of Southwestern High School’s Class of 1946, Margaret went on to build a life centered on faith, family, and tradition. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers at St. Frances Cabrini, where her quiet dedication reflected her strong spiritual foundation.

Margaret found happiness in the creative and cultural traditions she loved. She was especially talented at crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade pieces that became treasured keepsakes for those fortunate enough to receive them. She also delighted in traditional Hungarian dancing, embracing her heritage with pride and joy. Ladybugs, her favorite symbol, seemed to mirror her nature—gentle, resilient, and warmly welcomed wherever they appeared.

Above all, Margaret’s greatest legacy is the family she nurtured with steadfast love. She is lovingly survived by her children, Madeleine M. Kocsisko, Alex (Teresa) Kocsisko, and Joseph Kocsisko. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Stephanie, Eric, Jacob, and Zachary, and a cherished great-grandmother to Emmett and Olivia. The generations who follow are a living testament to her care, guidance, and enduring example.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved parents. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many memories she leaves behind—moments woven together with patience, tradition, laughter, and unconditional love.

Cremation has taken place in the care of Solosy Funeral Home, and Margaret will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park. Her life reminds us that the truest measure of a person is found in the love they give and the traditions they pass on—both of which Margaret shared abundantly.

Her memory will be treasured always.
