Margaret Sue Krol

Margaret Sue Krol, age 85, peacefully passed away on July 15, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1941, to the late Norwood Cochran and Lucy Margaret (Hicks) Cochran. Born Margaret Sue Cochran, throughout her life she carried a warm, strong, and independent spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Krol, who passed away on June 28, 2003. Though she deeply missed him, she continued to live her life with resilience, determination, and a joyful outlook.

Throughout her life, Margaret experienced both joys and hardships. Although life brought its share of ups and downs, she faced each season with remarkable strength, unwavering optimism, and a determination to keep moving forward. She chose to focus on the blessings in her life, remaining positive and fiercely independent through it all. Her resilience became one of her defining qualities and served as an inspiration to her family and friends.

She was a devoted and loving mother to Rocky Rains, Rodney Rains, and Anita Evans, who was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Evans. Margaret often spoke of a special dream she once had about a cluster of beautiful peaches. From that day forward, she affectionately called her children "my peaches”.

Margaret cherished her grandchildren Sarah, Crystal, Stephanie, and Heather, and great grandchildren Charity, Eli, Tru, and Lucas. Her family was one of her greatest blessings, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

She also leaves behind cherished family members who held a very special place in her heart: Theresa Rhodes, lovingly known as "Sissy Bug"; Tanya "Chell" Gray; and Nathan Smith. She was preceded in death by Melanie Rode, affectionately known as her “Sweet Pea” whom she loved dearly.

Margaret was the youngest of six children and was preceded in death by all of her siblings: J.B.; Juanita or loving known as "Aunt Billy"; Peggy and her spouse, Howard Rhodes; Gracie and her spouse, Stacy Smith; and Jack. Although they have all gone before her, the love they shared throughout the years remained a treasured part of her life. She also leaves behind many members of her extended family.

Margaret possessed a warm, magnetic personality that naturally drew people to her. She never met a stranger, and it seemed that wherever she went, she made friends with ease. Her smile, kind heart, and genuine interest in others made people feel welcome and valued. She loved being in church, visiting with neighbors, socializing with friends, and being an active part of the community around her.

A fiercely independent woman, Margaret took great pride in caring for herself and maintaining the life she loved. She cherished living in her own apartment, where she enjoyed the comfort and freedom of her own home, she especially valued being able to drive herself to appointments and shop for her own groceries. Her independence was not only a source of pride but also a reflection of her determination and strength.

Margaret enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She looked forward to regular trips to have her hair and nails done, always taking pride in her appearance. She loved playing BINGO, enjoyed going on bus trips and adventures with friends, and found happiness in spending time with those around her. She also loved working when she was younger, and believed in staying active and productive throughout her life.

To know Margaret was to love her. Her warmth, laughter, resilience, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel like family, and her presence brought joy to countless lives. While her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in the many wonderful memories she created and in knowing that her legacy of love, kindness, positivity, and independence will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Margaret will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home, Lincoln Park.

Visitation will continue the following day on Wednesday, July 22 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Solosy Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit.
