The family of Mary Margaret Motowski announces her peaceful passing on November 2, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Ecorse and raised in Delray, a neighborhood in Detroit. Mary attended Holy Cross Elementary and Southwestern High School, where she began cultivating the faith and strength that guided her throughout her life.
In 1958, Mary married the love of her life, Raymond Motowski, after growing up just down the street from one another. Their friendship blossomed into a deep and enduring love that lasted 60 years, until Raymond's passing in 2019. Together, they built a home filled with faith, joy, and devotion—a reflection of their shared commitment to God and one another.
Mary was a devoted and loving mother to Colette (Domenic) Tucci. Though she had no grandchildren, she poured her heart into her family and extended love to her sister Patricia Watts, brother-in-law Norbert Motowski, and many nieces and nephews. Her family and friends were blessed by her compassion, her gentle humor, and her unwavering kindness.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Mary attended church regularly and lived her beliefs with quiet dignity. She found joy in the beauty of life's simple moments—decorating her home, baking and cooking with care, and watching movies that made her smile. Her creativity and love of beauty shone through in all she did.
Mary was known for her quick wit, kindness, and generosity, as well as her elegant style and eye for detail. She carried herself with strength and courage, facing life's challenges with grace and faith. Her home, her family, and her beloved dog Sophie were her greatest joys.
Mary's life was a testament to love—love of God, family, and home. Her presence was a light to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
