Melinda Lee Moore

On Monday, July 24, 2023, Melinda Lee Moore, of Detroit, passed away at the age of 78 years.

Beloved wife of the late George Moore, Jr. Loving mother of Richard Moore and Rayford Moore. Proud grandmother of Victoria Cargill and Candice Moore. Caring great-grandmother of Kai Cargill and Kane Cargill.

Melinda was born on June 18, 1945 to the late William and Ruth Runyan in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was the oldest of five children. Dearest sister of Ellen (Donna Hale) Alexander, Gladys Oliver, Alice (Roy) Deleon, and Bill (the late Deanna Hale) Runyan. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. While Melinda was a child, her family moved to Detroit for better work and remained in Michigan the rest of her life. As a young woman, Melinda was introduced to George by her cousins. In 1964, George and Melinda were married and began raising a family. Family was everything to Melinda. She treasured every moment she spent with her two sons.

Melinda lived life to the fullest. In her younger years, Melinda loved to garden. She especially loved to get outdoors and tend to the beautiful flowers in her yard. Cooking was also a passion she took pleasure in. She loved cooking for her family and making sure everyone ate well. If there was a holiday, Melinda would be in the kitchen preparing the food. Some of her signature dishes were biscuits & gravy and chicken & dumplings. In her later years, Melinda took pleasure in watching TV. Her favorite shows were court shows that highlighted real court cases. She made sure to keep everyone informed about the happenings of cases in session.

Melinda will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023  4:00PM until time of service at Solosy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will begin at 7:00PM.
