Michael Cornel Jones

January 4, 1975 — March 8, 2025

Detroit

Michael Cornel Jones, age 50, of Ecorse, passed away on March 8, 2025, leaving behind a family who adored him and a lifetime of cherished memories. Born on January 4, 1975, to Devan (Hicks) Jones and the late Russell Jones, Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose heart was always with his family.

Michael was the loving husband of Christine, who was not only his partner in life but his best friend. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and a shared passion for family. He was a proud father to his children, Michael (Shirley) and Angel, who were his pride and joy. His role as a grandfather to Rayne, Autumn, Raven, and Athena brought him endless happiness, and he embraced every moment he spent with them. He loved being a stay-at-home dad, devoting his time to raising his children and later doting on his grandchildren.

Family meant everything to Michael. He shared a deep bond with his siblings—Russell, Kathy, David, Rodney (Barbara), and Michelle—and held close the memory of his late brother, Tim. He was the beloved son of Russell Jones and Devan (Hicks) Jones and son-in-law of Jim and Debbie Little who saw him as one of their own, a son not a son-in-law. His extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins was vast, and he took pride in being a guiding presence in their lives.

Michael had a true passion for life's simple joys. He was an avid gamer, always ready for an adventure in the digital world. Whether it was strategy, action, or role-playing games, he found excitement in the stories and challenges they offered. He was also a massive fan of superhero movies, refusing to take sides in the Marvel vs. DC debate because he loved them all. From the Avengers to the Justice League, he was enthralled by their heroism and action-packed stories. That love extended to action movies in general—nothing beat the thrill of a great fight scene, a daring escape, or a hero overcoming impossible odds.

Beyond his love for movies and gaming, Michael was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan. Whether they were dominating the field or fighting for a comeback, he stood by them through every game, proudly cheering them on. Football Sundays were sacred, and his enthusiasm was infectious to those around him.

Michael's warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and a passion for the things that made life fun and meaningful. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those who went before him, watching over them with the same love he gave so freely in life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park. A funeral service will take place at 5:00 PM during the visitation, where loved ones will come together to honor Michael's legacy, reflect on the joy he brought to those around him, and find comfort in each other. His family welcomes all who knew him to attend, reminisce, and pay tribute to the incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend that he was.

Rest easy, Michael. You were, and always will be, a hero in the hearts of those who love you.
