Michael Frank Ledesma

Michael Frank Ledesma, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on June 21, 1953, on an Air Force base in Wichita Falls, Texas, Michael was the cherished son of the late Frank and Irene Ledesma (nee Novakowski). He grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan, and later made Lincoln Park his lifelong home.

Michael was the beloved husband of Darlene Ledesma (nee Mazure), with whom he shared a deep, enduring love that began in their teenage years. High school sweethearts, Michael and Darlene married in 1973, spending 51 joyful years together and building a beautiful family along the way. Their love and partnership served as the bedrock of Michael's life and a model of devotion and companionship for their family and friends.

He was a dedicated and loving father to Michael Scott Ledesma and his wife, Jennifer (nee Reynolds), and to the late David Thomas Ledesma, who will forever remain in his family's hearts. Michael is survived by David's spouse, Rebecca (nee Strauchman), and cherished the memory of his late son, keeping his spirit alive in every family gathering. His role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness, and he was regularly doting on his four grandchildren: Liam, Wyatt, Quinn, and Tara Ledesma.

Michael was a treasured brother to Susan Koslowski (nee Ledesma) and her husband, Dennis, as well as Robert Ledesma and his wife, Sarah Ledesma (nee Dzieglawski). He is predeceased by his brothers John and Timothy Ledesma, with whom he shared many meaningful memories and a lifelong bond. Michael's extended family also held a special place in his heart, including his in-laws, Bonnie and William Dudsinski, who were an important part of his life.

A graduate of Schoolcraft College, Michael earned his Associate's degree and dedicated his career to the automotive industry, where he worked as a designer, creating components that contributed to the evolution of the vehicles we know today. After years of dedicated service, he retired from Ford Motor Company, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and ingenuity. Known for his hands-on approach, Michael was a jack-of-all-trades, bringing a do-it-yourself spirit to every task he undertook, and his work ethic inspired those around him.

Outside of work, Michael had a love for the outdoors and treasured time spent with Darlene camping, traveling, and exploring new places together. He found joy in the simplest of moments, especially when surrounded by family and friends. His dearest friend, Louise Malwitz, who shared countless memories and milestones, enriching his life and bringing laughter and friendship through the years.

Michael's legacy lives on through his family and friends who will forever cherish his warmth, his humor, and the deep love he held for those close to him. His memory will remain a guiding light for his loved ones, and he will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and the many lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024  1:00 - 7:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 PM.

Michael's cremation will be held in the care of Solosy Funeral Home.
