Michael Bradley Nattrass

Southgate

The family of Michael Bradley Nattrass of Southgate is saddened to announce his passing on September 9, 2026, at the age of 74.

Mike was the beloved husband of Twila Nattrass, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Melisa (William) Darnieder, Michael (Amber) Nattrass, and Stephanie (Cory) Arthur; and a proud grandfather of Emily Darnieder, Julia Darnieder, Marcus Darnieder, Kaitlyn Nattrass, Ryan Arthur, Connor Nattrass, Joshua Arthur, and Anne Darnieder.

He was the dear brother of Judith (Darwin) Lutze, the late Elizabeth (late Floyd) Thornton, and the late Eric (Christine) Nattrass. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Lee (Dawn Wernette-Leff) Leff; many nieces and nephews; and the many, many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Mike was born in Flint, Michigan, and grew up in nearby Davison. He spent much of his childhood outdoors with his older brother, engaging in the boyhood pursuits of fishing and hunting on their parents' property. During his high school years, Mike played the sousaphone in the marching band and was a member of the football team.

As an adult, he followed in his father's footsteps and built a career as a diesel truck mechanic. Over the years, he advanced into management and ultimately became an independent Snap-on Tools franchise owner.

Mike came from a family with a long history of military service and was deeply patriotic. After completing Military Police Academy training, he served in the Michigan Army National Guard and Reserves from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. He rose to the rank of First Lieutenant and served on the Governor's National Guard marksmanship team.

Mike enjoyed attending and serving at Bethel Assembly of God in Lincoln Park. He taught Bible classes for young adults and served on the church security team. He had a genuine heart for helping those in need.

His hobbies included all types of fishing, especially the time he spent on the boat with his brother. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, studying Scripture, and learning about history, particularly the Civil War.

Mike enjoyed travelling. Some of his favorite places to visit were The Henry Ford Greenfield Village, Gettysburg, and Mackinac Island, where he found relaxation while enjoying the history and beauty of each place.

Mike never met a stranger and genuinely enjoyed talking with people. He had a very unique sense of humor. To joke and to tease someone was his way of expressing that he genuinely loved and cared for them.

Above all, Mike had a strong and unwavering faith in the Lord. He loved God and trusted the promises of Scripture through every season of life. He was a man of deep convictions and steadfast beliefs. His family and friends meant everything to him, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His greatest joys were the laughter of his eight grandchildren and the love of his wife, Twila.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed.
