Michael William Vancanneyt, age 33, passed away on April 15, 2025. He was born on September 28, 1992, and brought a lifetime of love, loyalty, and simple joys to those who knew him.
Michael was the beloved son of Paula Vancanneyt and John Vancanneyt, who will miss him more than words can express. He is also survived by numerous friends and extended family members whose lives were touched by his steady presence and genuine heart.
Michael found happiness in life’s simple comforts. He was not a fussy eater, however his favorite “food groups” included burritos, pierogies, macaroni and cheese, pizza, French fries, and plenty of ketchup.
From a young age, Michael showed a gentle and content spirit. He was never one to ask for much, but one day while shopping with his dad, something special caught his eye—a Winnie the Pooh bear. That bear became like a known friend, and something he cherished deeply, loving it with all his heart. His love for Winnie reflected the simple and sincere way he experienced the world.
He loved spending time watching movies from his cherished DVD collection—nearly 100 strong—and could often be found enjoying his favorites again and again. The tv show The Golden Girls also held a special place in his heart, bringing him deep belly laughs. Music was another constant in his life, filling his days with enjoyment and peace.
Michael had a way of loving people deeply and sincerely. If he welcomed you as a friend, you would be loved for life. His loyalty ran deep, and his connections with others were meaningful and lasting. While he could be set in his ways, Michael carried a quiet happiness that made him uniquely himself.
Above all, Michael will be remembered for his unwavering love, his steady nature, and the comfort he found in the things and people he loved most. He leaves behind a space that cannot be filled and will be dearly missed by all who knew him—especially by his Mom and “Deaddy,” who held him closest to their hearts.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” – Winnie the Pooh
Michael's cremation is taking place in the care of Solosy Funeral Home.
