From Ken:
Nancy, the most beautiful and sweet loving and kind woman I have known and loved. I don't think I could ever love her as much as she loved me. She was my all in everything. God gave me the best wife I could ever want or pray for. He gave me the very best. I pray that He will get me through this pain in my heart and soul. I am lost without Nancy. God, please help me make it until I come and be with her.
Nancy Sarah Bennett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on December 6, 1945, Nancy's life was characterized by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Nancy was born to the late William and Janice Johns, joining her brother, the late William Craig Johns, in their family home. She married the love of her life, Ken Bennett Sr., and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: David Bennett, Kenneth Bennett (Tricia), and Douglas Bennett (Mary). Nancy's greatest joy came from her role as a mother, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting her sons throughout their lives.
Her legacy extends through her grandchildren: David, Corey, RJ, Brianna, Hunter, Kenneth I, PJ, Liam, and Julianna, as well as her great-grandchildren: Aily, Natalie, Penelope, Birdie, and Evelyn. Nancy treasured each moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in their presence. She also found joy in her furry companions Squeeks the cat and especially Cinnamon; a chocolate lab that stayed by her side throughout her illness.
Nancy was a dedicated member of Beacon Baptist Church, where she found solace, friendship, and purpose. She was actively involved in crafting handmade greeting cards with her church community, a testament to her caring nature and love for others. Her kindness and thoughtfulness were evident in every card she sent. Brianna reminisced that she still has every one of the cards that her grandmother sent; cherished treasures to last a lifetime. Nancy has received many handmade cards over the past several months; taking pleasure in the well wishes and the caring spirit of the senders.
Throughout her life, Nancy shared a passion for travel with her husband, Ken. They embarked on countless adventures, with a particular fondness for exploring lighthouses. Although they didn't reach their goal of visiting every lighthouse in Michigan, Nancy's photographs captured the beauty and essence of each place they visited.
An accomplished cook, Nancy delighted in preparing meals for her family, infusing each dish with love and warmth. She also served her community through her work in the Lincoln Park educational system, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many hungry students.
Nancy's love for sports was evident in her prowess as a softball player, where she played catcher with skill and determination. Her unforgettable moment at the plate, where she held her ground and made the out despite being bowled over, epitomized her strength and resilience.
Her love for the beach was unparalleled, and she cherished collecting sand from the various shores she visited, including a memorable time in Brazil with Ken on a short-term mission trip. These bottles of sand, displayed proudly in her home, serve as tangible reminders of her adventurous spirit and unwavering faith.
Nancy's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Forever remembered, forever loved. Rest in peace, dear Nancy.
