Olga Luperena, a lifelong resident of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on March 30, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on September 9, 1955, in Detroit to Jesus and Yolanda (Moreno) Llanes.
Olga lived a life filled with personality, humor, and a deep love for her family. Known affectionately as “Tia Goofy,” she had a playful spirit and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She could be a bit stubborn at times, but it always came from a place of love, and those closest to her understood that well.
She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—bowling in her younger years, baking cakes for family and friends, and enjoying trips to Las Vegas. Olga had her favorites and never strayed far from them—hot fries, Sprite, and her beloved Tequila Rose. She would often joke about her dislike for drinking water, saying she had already had enough of it as a child.
More than anything, Olga cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Taking care of her grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and she created countless memories filled with laughter and love. Her humor shined through in everyday moments—from playfully slapping her son George and teasing that he looked too much like his father, to quickly turning around and reminding him how handsome he was, even joking that Elvis was his “real dad.” Even in her final wishes there was humor. She asked George to feed everyone and he jokingly said sure I will hand out lunchables and beers at the service.
Olga is survived by her loving son, George Jr. (Mariana) Luperena; her cherished grandchildren, Giovanni (Angelina) Luperena, George III (Maria Richardson) Luperena, and Julian (Paige Henson) Rivera; and her adored great-grandchildren, George IV and Luciano. She is also survived by her siblings, Anita Vela, Dolores Lopez, Trinidad Kraus, Laura Cuevas, Juan Llanes, and Roberto Llanes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Yolanda Llanes; her sisters, Hilda Bolanos; and her brothers, Andres Llanes and Jesus Llanes Jr.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home. A service will be held that evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Her family will forever cherish the memories of a life well lived and a woman well loved.
