Paul Roland Sullivan passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 85. He was the beloved son of Elizabeth and Roland Sullivan, who instilled in him the values of hard work, resilience, and faith. Raised in Taylor, Michigan, Paul was the eldest of five siblings, a role he carried with responsibility and care throughout his life. He shared a close bond with his siblings—Mark Sullivan (Linda), Ellen Skiver (the late Joe), and the late Rita Powell and the late Margaret Zimmerman (Phil).
In 1961, Paul married the love of his life, Kathleen Sullivan, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage until her passing. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and a strong work ethic. Paul was a devoted father to his only son, the late Robert Sullivan, and grandfather to Paul Sullivan (Meghan) and Kelli Walk (Jordan). He loved both of his great-granddaughters, Finnoula Walk and Maeve Walk.
Paul dedicated over 40 years of his life as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, where his keen intellect, ingenuity, and meticulous attention to detail left a lasting impact. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a gifted designer and craftsman, personally building two exquisite homes—each a testament to his precision, vision, and unwavering dedication to excellence.
A man who thrived on both productivity and enjoyment, Paul found joy in working with his hands. Whether tackling a home project or shooting pool, he relished every opportunity to challenge himself and create something meaningful. His love for the water was ever present—from gazing at the canal outside his home in Gibraltar to enjoying the tranquil beaches of Puerto Rico, where he formed lasting friendships within the local community. His passion for fishing and boating reflected his deep connection to the water. Whether casting a line in search of the perfect catch or cruising along the waves, he found peace in the rhythm of the sea. Fishing trips were more than a pastime; they were a way for him to connect with family, friends, and the places he loved most.
Paul's deep Catholic faith guided his life, shaping him into the strong-willed, protective, and determined man his loved ones knew him to be. He was immensely proud of his Irish heritage, embracing its traditions with pride. Those who knew Paul also knew of his unwavering love for his Pomeranians, all named Robyn, who brought him great companionship and joy over the years.
Paul was blessed with many friends, forming meaningful connections wherever he went. While he cherished all the friendships he made, he was especially beloved by the close-knit community he found in Puerto Rico. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering loyalty made him a friend to many, and those who knew him were drawn to his strong spirit and kind heart.
Above all, Paul's greatest love was his family. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and the many extended family members and friends he held so dear.
