Rachel Marie Gibson

January 17, 1965 — January 29, 2025

Rachel Marie Gibson, aged 60, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 17, 1965, she was the cherished daughter of Toni Jean (Slomers) Peters and the late Albert William Boone.

Rachel was the heart of her family, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Jessica Jean Felton (Michael O. Felton) of Atlanta, Georgia; James Edward Gibson Jr.; Jordan Roy Gibson (Bridget Corn) of River Rouge, Michigan; Joshua William Gibson (Kimberly McConell) of Sterling, Michigan; TeAndra Rucker of Detroit, Michigan; and Antoniia Vandevelde of Detroit, Michigan. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma" to Taylan Gibson (Kashawndra), Jabin Gibson, Jordan Gibson Jr., Skylar Gibson, Ezekiel Gibson, Ellie Gibson, and Ray Gibson. She also embraced the beautiful role of great-grandmother to Kennedy Gibson, Layla Gibson, and one more great-granddaughter on the way—whom she was already so excited to meet in spirit. The words "Love you to the moon and back" will continue to echo in the hearts of her grandchildren.

Rachel will be dearly missed by her siblings, Ryan Boone and Randy Boone, as well as her nieces and nephews, LaDonna McQuarter, Emilio McQuarter, and Mateo McQuarter. As a great-aunt, she adored Lila, Malakai, and Amani. She is now reunited with her beloved sister, Rhonda Boone, as well as her grandmother Lillian Slomers, her Aunt Nancy Drouillard, and Uncle Harry (Timothy) Slomers Sr.

Rachel had a passion for life and a heart that welcomed everyone. She was a true caregiver at heart, dedicating her life to helping others as a direct care worker—a role she took immense pride and joy in. She had a profound love for books, with Stephen King being her absolute favorite. A storyteller in her own right, Rachel could make any gathering feel like home.

Her kitchen was always full of warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her home-cooked meals. Holidays and family gatherings were her specialty, as she loved nothing more than bringing her loved ones together around the table. Rachel was also an incredible artist, expressing her creativity in many ways. She found peace in nature, especially enjoying camping trips.

Rachel Marie Gibson was a woman of deep love, kindness, and creativity. Her presence lit up a room, her laughter was contagious, and her wisdom will live on through the lives she touched. She will be forever remembered, cherished, and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private cremation is held in the care of Solosy Funeral Home, per Rachel's wishes.
