Randy Craig Benedetti, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. He was born on August 18, 1947, the son of the late Osvaldo Benedetti and Marie (Visco) Benedetti.
Randy was a man of warmth, humor, and generosity, known for his ability to make those around him feel welcome and never hungry. Friends and family often said that if you were with Randy, you could be certain of good food, good company, and plenty of laughter. He loved "holding court," sharing stories, and buying rounds of beer for both old friends and new ones.
He shared 36 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Antonia Marie Benedetti, creating countless cherished memories together. Randy was also a devoted father and stepfather. He is survived by his children Craig, Rebecca, and Chris; and his stepdaughters Catherine (Robert) Geiser and Dorothy (Steve) Cole. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, William Jr. (Erin), Eric (Christine), Kevin, Steve, Isabella, Anna Geiser, Zach Geiser, Nicholas Geiser, Maya Cole, Dylan Cole, and Lindsay Cole; as well as his great-grandchildren, Eric Gotti Jr., and Cataleah. He is also survived by his dear sister, Gale.
A man of many talents, Randy spent part of his career working in maintenance for Lincoln Park schools, but he was most proud of his career as a skilled private investigator. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail, his ability to get people talking, and his dedication to uncovering the truth. Many law firms trusted his careful documentation of crime scenes and interviews.
Beyond work, Randy enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved watching the Detroit Tigers from his patio, snorkeling in the ocean, and vacationing in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Some of his favorite times were grabbing a burger while watching a Michigan game at a local dive bar, visiting blues clubs, and winding up the night at Denny's. He treasured visits to Andy's Jazz Club and Shaw's Crabhouse in Chicago, where his photo with the maître d' proudly hung behind the bar of a famous Italian restaurant.
Randy will be remembered as a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand, and a man who poured his heart into his family and community. His generosity with both his time and spirit touched many lives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Randy's memory to Torrey Pines Group Home, 34720 24 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, MI 48047.
