Ray Willson Pippin, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and beloved friend, passed away on February 27, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born on October 10, 1947, to the late Hubert and Ethel Pippin, Ray grew up surrounded by love in a family that valued kindness and compassion. His love extended to his siblings, the late Wanda Acorn and the late Barbara Pippin. He is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Lorraine Pippin, who affectionately called him her Honeybun. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to the strength of their bond, lasting for over 58 beautiful years.
Ray was a dedicated father to Rosalin (Michael) Gunn, Linda (Tim) Alexander, Dawn (Lonnie) Pippin, and Ray Jr (Annie) Pippin. Ray was a proud grandfather to Brandon (Megan), Bradley, Josh, Ryan, Dylan (Brie), Cortney (David), Kirsten (Garland), Chelsea (Roman), and the late Stephenie. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Jace, Olivia, and Haven. He will be fondly remembered by his close friends Lesslee Drobot, Nancy Tripp, and Karen Douglas.
Ray found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for fishing, spending peaceful hours by the water with a hopeful line in hand. His green thumb was evident in his gardening and yardwork, and he took pride in cultivating vibrant tomatoes. Ray embraced every opportunity to bask in the beauty of nature and spend time outside.
An aficionado of Mexican cuisine, Ray could eat it seven days a week. His taste buds found delight in the flavors of his favorite dishes. A Bud Light in hand and an occasional shot of Jack Daniels were his preferred companions during cherished moments. Ray was an avid Michigan football fan and never missed a chance to follow the Detroit Tigers on the radio, his passion for sports adding an extra layer of excitement to his life.
However, Ray's greatest joy was found within the warmth of his family. He adored his children and grandchildren, finding pride in the kind-hearted individuals they had become. In a heartfelt moment, he confided in Lorraine that they were successful in raising their family because of the kindness he saw flowing through each member.
Ray Willson Pippin's memory will be forever engraved in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the everlasting love of his family and the memories of a life well-lived.
