Lincoln Park

Richard M. Daniels Sr., age 94, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication. Born on August 4, 1929, to Rudy and Hazel Daniels, he was one of seven siblings, survived by his brother John (Sue) Daniels, and preceded in death by his siblings Donald Daniels, Leo Daniels, Ruth Renfro, Martha Vann, and Viola Daniels.

Richard married the love of his life, Etta Mae Daniels (nee. Puma), on August 5, 1950, after meeting as teenagers at Clark Park. Their love endured for 59 precious years until her passing. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling values of hard work and dedication in their children: Richard (Linda) Daniels Jr., Carol (John) Kettler, Diane (Ramon) Reyes, John (Cindy M.) Daniels, David (Cindy A.) Daniels, Christine (Mike) Daniels, and the late Joseph Daniels.

A true family man, Richard was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. He cherished his family above all else, embodying integrity in every aspect of his life.

Richard was known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, working as a milk deliveryman as a young father and later working in the steel industry. Throughout Richard's life he also demonstrated an incredible gift of craftsmanship. He was a true wood artisan and could fashion anything out of natural materials. His attention to detail and creative innovation was admired by many. Richard was always ready to lend a helping hand with repairs or renovations. He was known for the numerous kitchens he remodeled, and roofs repaired. If a family member, friend, or neighbor ever needed assistance with a home project, he would gather his tools and be at their house, ready to use his abundant handy skills.

In his leisure time, Richard enjoyed watching baseball, playing card games such as Pinochle, and spending time outdoors. Richard found pleasure in watching birds, airplanes, and clouds. With his eyes to the sky, he often took to predicting the weather as well. He had a passion for gardening, cultivating grapes and a variety of roses, and sharing the bounty and beauty with loved ones.

Richard's faith was central to his life, guiding his actions and values. He lived his life with unwavering dedication to his family and faith community, leaving behind a legacy of love and integrity that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Richard M. Daniels Sr. will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends, who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he cherished.
