Richard Sydney Dennis

June 4, 1945 — January 19, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Sydney Dennis, a devoted family man and cherished friend, who left this world on January 19, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 4, 1945, Richard lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to those he held dear.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Imogene Dennis, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and strength. He leaves behind his three loving daughters: Tina Dennis, Marlene (Scott) Kerr, and Catherine (John) Boone. Richard's legacy lives on through his six grandchildren—Richie, Nick, Dylan, Scottie, Tyler, and Abbie—and his three great-grandchildren: Braxton, Bentlee, and Lola, who brought immense joy to his life.

Richard's life was marked by numerous significant milestones that defined his character and legacy. He served with honor in the United States Army from June 1963 to July 1965, receiving service awards for his proficiency with the Rifle M-1 and M-14. During this time, he began a lifelong relationship with his dear Imogene, and they were married on January 30, 1965. After his military service, Richard dedicated himself to a long and faithful career as a millwright at General Motors, from which he eventually retired after many decades of hard work and dedication.

A man of many passions, Richard loved fishing and was known for crafting his own fishing lures, which he generously shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling and found great satisfaction in woodworking, often creating beautiful pieces that showcased his talent and dedication. His love for sports was undeniable; he was an avid fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers. Richard's enthusiasm for his teams brought an extra spark to game days and made him a steadfast supporter through victories and challenges alike.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park. A second visitation will take place on Sunday, January 26, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a luncheon at Hungarian Rhapsody in Southgate to share memories and celebrate Richard's remarkable life.

Richard's kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
