Robert Eric Lahti

June 21, 1958 — May 19, 2025

Robert Eric Lahti, known lovingly by many as Rob and Papa, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on June 21, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, Rob was a proud son of the late Elias and Elizabeth Lahti. He lived a life full of humor, heart, and dedication to family, friends, and hard work.

A Detroit native through and through, Rob grew up playing baseball with kids older than him. He later attended Cody High School before starting his career in tool and die. He started at Davis Tool where he learned invaluable skills and made lasting friendships. Later, he built a lifelong career with Ford Motor Company. Rob rose through the ranks to become Assistant Plant Manager before retiring, proud of his Journeyman card and the many people he trained and mentored over the years. He was known for his work ethic, long hours, and remarkable ability to manage and connect with people.

Rob's life took a special turn when he met the love of his life, Valerie. After friends at work kept telling him about the bartender named Val, and a little convincing from his buddies, he finally walked into the bar—and the rest was history. They shared nearly 20 wonderful years together, marrying on August 12th and recently celebrating 25 years from their first date. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and loyal companionship.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kelly Johnson (Anthony Rodriguez), his treasured grandchildren: Katherine Hawkins, Logan Johnson, Anthony Rodriguez, and Gavin Rodriguez, and his precious great-grandchildren: Tatum Jacobs and Emmersyn Rodriguez. Rob also leaves behind his nephew John Lahti (Nicole), great niece and nephews Noah Lahti, Claire Lahti and Nathan Lahti, and dear friends Dennis (Kathy) Ostrowski and Keith (Renee) Zobay.

Rob's home was never short of four-legged friends. His Great Dane George Burns, golden retriever Gypsie Rose, and cat Maggie were just a few of the animals he loved deeply. Over the years, many other dogs also became part of the family.

Rob had a magnetic personality—witty, sharp, and always quick with a nickname or a smart remark. A true jokester, he brought laughter wherever he went. People were drawn to his confidence and natural skill in everything he set his mind to. Whether he was golfing, watching sports, drinking a cold Corona, enjoying one of his treasured mustangs, or blow-drying his beautiful blonde hair (earning him the nickname "Fluffy"), Rob made an impression that no one ever forgot.

He was a man of passion, pride, and perseverance, known for his love of fitness in his younger days and his unmistakable hair routine using a round brush every single day. Rob took joy in the little things, cherished time with his dogs, and always found a way to make others smile.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Rob lived a full and fearless life. He was loved deeply, and his spirit, stories, and sense of humor will carry on through all those he touched. He will be missed beyond words.
